The principle of applying nitrogen generators in the coal mining industry

The principle of using nitrogen generators in the coal mining industry is mainly based on PSA pressure swing adsorption technology. This technology achieves gas separation by changing the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent for gases under different pressures. At higher pressures, gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide in the air are adsorbed by adsorbents (such as molecular sieves), while nitrogen passes through due to its lower adsorption affinity. Subsequently, in an environment with reduced pressure, the adsorbed gas is released, thereby achieving continuous production of nitrogen gas.


Application scenarios of nitrogen generators in the coal mining industry

Emergency prevention and fire extinguishing: In mines such as coal mines, the accumulation of gas and dust may lead to explosions or fires. The nitrogen generated by the nitrogen generator can effectively reduce the oxygen concentration, thereby reducing these risks. The application of nitrogen in fire extinguishing, especially in difficult to reach underground areas, provides an effective safety measure.

Inhibiting coal oxidation: Injecting a large amount of nitrogen gas reduces the oxygen concentration in the goaf, inhibits coal oxidation, and reduces the risk of coal spontaneous combustion. When nitrogen at lower temperatures flows through coal, it absorbs the heat generated by coal oxidation, slows down the rate of coal heating, and lowers the temperature of the surrounding medium, thereby delaying or terminating the coal oxidation process.

Reduce explosion risk: As the concentration of inert gas increases, the explosion range gradually narrows. When the ratio of inert gas to combustible gas mixture reaches a certain value, the mixture loses its explosive ability.
